What is Domain Redirection?
Redirecting a domain means sending visitors from one domain to another. A permanent redirect (301) tells browsers and search engines the new URL.
Common Use Cases:
-
You changed your domain name →
oldsite.com→newsite.com -
You want to redirect
www.example.com→example.com(or vice versa)
How to Set Up 301 Redirection in Domain Provider (e.g., Hostinger, GoDaddy)
No need for server setup or coding.
Steps:
-
Login to your domain provider dashboard
-
Go to the domain you want to redirect (e.g.,
oldsite.com) -
Find the Redirect or Forwarding section (sometimes under “Manage DNS” or “Advanced Settings”)
-
Click Add Redirect
-
Enter:
-
Source Domain:
oldsite.com -
Destination Domain:
https://newsite.com -
Redirect Type: Permanent (301)
-
With/Without WWW: Choose whether to redirect both
www.oldsite.comandoldsite.com

🧠 Most providers handle SSL (HTTPS) automatically when redirection is set correctly.

-
Go to Domains → Manage → DNS/Redirects
-
Click Add Redirect
-
Fill in old domain and new domain
-
Select Permanent (301)
